DESCRIPTION:Leadership Mitchell \n\n\n\nApplication Deadline-Friday\, November 15\n\n\n\nWith the abundance of leadership opportunities within the Mitchell Area\, Leadership Mitchell is a practical means of developing informed persons who can become involved in the various areas of community service offered throughout our community.\n\n \n\nLeadership Mitchell is an annual program offered through the Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce's Governmental Affairs Committee.  The Program is designed to support the development of future leadership with particular emphasis on specific skills and collaborative leadership. Leadership Mitchell is targeted to individuals who are actively seeking positive changes in response to civic\, government\, business and industry changes in the Mitchell Area by providing training in areas strategic to the well-being of our community.\n\n \n\nThe program will begin on Thursday\, January 9\, 2014.  Classes are generally held on Thursdays from 1:00   5:00pm unless otherwise noted.  The following sessions will be offered for the 2014 program:\n\n \n\nCourse Schedule\n\nThursday\, January 9\, 2014-Orientation & Program Overview Who are these People?  and Leadership Class Social\n\nThursday\, January 23\, 2014-How to be a Great Leader\n\nThursday\, February 6\, 2014-Volunteerism & Boardmanship \n\nThursday\, February 20\, 2014-City & County Government\n\nThursday\, March 6\, 2014-Public Safety\n\nThursday\, March 20\, 2014-Business & Industry\n\nThursday\, April 3\, 2014-Area Education \n\nThursday\, April 17\, 2014-Health Care\n\nThursday\, May 1\, 2014-Mitchell Attractions\n\nThursday\, May 15\, 2014-Personal and Community Leadership &Commencement Ceremony\n\nCracker Barrel Sessions--Time: 10:00-11:00 am\, held on two Saturdays starting in January. Meet our District 20 Legislators only need to attend one session.\n\nCommunity Involvement--Attend a City Council\, County Commission\, or School Board Meeting or a Chamber event.\n\nSchedule Subject to Change\n\n \n\nGraduates of Leadership Mitchell become a part of a new community resource\, capable of joining responsibly in community leadership.  Graduates will have seen how the Mitchell Area works\, know its areas of need\, and feel challenged to work together for solutions to the challenges that face the Mitchell area in these times of change.\n\n \n\nLeadership Mitchell selects 20-24 area individuals who live or work in the Mitchell area and have a desire to learn more about what the area has to offer and have the potential for further advancement to leadership positions within their own organizations.\n\n \n\nProgram tuition is $350 for the ten (10) session course and related activities.  This can be paid by the employer and/or participant.
