Mitchell High School Librarian & Success Center Facilitator
Job Summary:
Mitchell High School is seeking a dynamic, organized, and student-focused individual to serve as the High School Librarian & Success Center Facilitator. This position is designed to promote literacy, academic success, research skills, and student support by combining traditional library services with targeted academic interventions and student assistance.
The ideal candidate will create a welcoming and resource-rich library environment while also supporting students academically through the Success Center by building positive relationships, encouraging student success, and helping students develop strong organizational and academic habits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Library Services & Collection Management
- Develop and maintain a welcoming, organized, and student-centered library environment.
- Select and order new library materials within the library budget.
- Manage and maintain the library collection, including shelving, cataloging, and processing materials.
- Enter books and materials into the library catalog system accurately and efficiently.
- Process and prepare new library materials for circulation.
- Mend and repair library materials as needed.
- Remove obsolete, damaged, or worn materials from the collection.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and library data.
Student & Staff Support
- Assist students and staff in locating books and instructional materials.
- Help students and staff utilize online databases and digital research tools.
- Support classroom research projects and information literacy instruction.
- Assist students with online book checkout and technology troubleshooting.
- Collect and track overdue materials and fines through emails, notices, and communication with students and families.
Success Center Facilitation & Academic Support
- Manage the Success Center and provide academic support for students needing additional assistance.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to identify students who may benefit from interventions or additional support.
- Provide one-on-one or small group assistance for students in core classes, online coursework, credit recovery, or other academic needs.
- Help students develop study skills, organization strategies, time management, and academic responsibility.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where all students feel supported and encouraged.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Experience working with high school students in an educational setting.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Familiarity with educational technology, library systems, and online learning platforms.
- Ability to support diverse learners and foster a positive learning environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
